The Hut

The MCNW hut is situated approximately 800 meters off the A5 at Grid Ref:  SH700604 (what three words yell.damp.scored), this is about a 10 minute drive from Betws y Coed.  You can drive up to the hut carpark which is within 180 meters of the hut with room for about 6 or 8 cars. It is true  “mountain hut” with the advantage of being high above also well away from the road but with a good electric supply.

The hut can accommodate up to 15 people distributed in two dorm rooms, a kitchen, communal dinning / relaxing room and a drying room.

Facilities at the hut include, fresh water supply direct from the hills to the rear of the hut, ladies and gents flushing toilets, full electric lighting/heating and a fully equipped kitchen.

Although the facilities are simple compared to modern homes they are well up to the standards of other mountain huts, these are very much appreciated by the members and others (including groups).  The main aim is to provide a base for anyone wishing to get away from it all and enjoy yourselves. The hut offers free electric heating and hot water boilers above all three inside sinks. The bunks are three high with mattresses, also pillows and blankets are provided and kept in a storage box in the loft space. Bring your own sleeping bags.

Directly behind the hut is Pen Helgi Du and the Carnedds , over the valley is the Capel Curig ridge of the Glyders, with Moel Siabod towering over it, to the right is Tryfan with Adam and Eve watching over the hut, Y Garn and Bethesda ridge of the Glyders are in clear view.

No under 18s from outside bookings. The only exceptions being MCNW members children or guests children with the parent present. 

A deposit of £70 has to be made for the key & housekeeping and thereafter it is £10.00 per night per person, members are £5.00 per person.  Weekends can be very popular throughout the year, so planning ahead is a must.
